Homemade Autumn Chai Tea

This Chai tea blend will warm the body, relax the stomach, clear phlegm, open the sinuses and is an addictively good autumn sipper!

 

The Spice Mix:

1 part cinnamon

1 part fennel

½ part cardamom

½ part ginger

¼ part black peppercorn

 

I use the whole spice or cut and dried spice and grind fresh in a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle. You can substitute with ground spices for convenience but it loses some of its robust flavour. You can make as much as you want and store in a small jar for future use.

 

One Serving:

Add 1 tsp of spice mixture to one cup water in a small pot and bring to a simmer. Turn to low heat and cover, infusing for 2-3 minutes. Measure out ½ cup of nut milk or coconut milk. Stir into pot and warm up but don’t boil. Serve with honey or maple syrup.
