Winter Is Here Again
Every year when the cold weather hits people ask me what ‘my plans’ are for winter. The question tacitly implies that winter is unbearable and must be interrupted with equatorial vacations in order to survive it. But what if life truly begins outside our comfort zone? What if there was another way to look at this dilemma?
Don’t get me wrong, winter can wear even the hardiest of us Canadians down, but I think a lot of that has to do with staying indoors all the time and being inactive. So this year I have committed myself to being outdoors every day, moving and breathing fresh air, no matter the weather. As I get older I realize that aging is really about digging into our comfort zones so deeply, we stop pushing ourselves to grow. This year I want to challenge that tendency and fully embrace the spirit of winter.
