I’m Janna, the human behind Urban Healer.

And someone whose been medication-free for over 30 years. Healing my body naturally every step of the way. You might be wondering how I achieved that for myself and how you can do the same.

My healing journey began when I was a teen.

At 15 years old I was struggling with the physical, mental and emotional impacts of stress.

Of course I did not know it at the time. All I knew was I had gruelling stomach aches and constant digestive problems. And they were seriously interfering with my life.

I was told by medical specialists that there was nothing wrong with me.
But back in the 1980s if tests came back inconclusive they said it was all in your head.

The medical system let me down.


And it was the best thing that ever happened.

Because it forced me to seek alternatives. Which is exactly what I did. But I won’t lie, it was not a straightforward path!

I went through a lot of trial and error, experimenting with countless remedies and therapies. Until one day I just hit a wall because I wasn’t getting the results I wanted.

I looked at myself in the mirror and asked, ‘Why is this happening to me?!’

And in that moment...

Something in me woke up.

I had this dawning realization that my digestive problems were not happening to me. But for me. I was humbled, a little scared, but also relieved. Like all of a sudden my destiny was in my own hands again.

This new perspective changed everything for me.

I decided to stop all the remedies and therapies. To stop taking other peoples advice. And in that gap, just start listening to what my body was trying to tell me. I went from feeling stuck, to feeling intensely curious.

“It wasn’t happening to me. But for me.”

This simple shift in awareness got me unstuck and on the road to actually feeling better.

That’s because knowledge applied without wisdom has very limited success. And what I needed in that moment was to listen to the wisdom of my body.

Since then I have uncovered 3 Key Mindset Shifts that are fundamental to every successful self-healing journey.

What I do.

I have been helping the stressed and weary urban dweller take better care of themselves since 2002.

I run a Clinical Herbal Medicine consultancy, alongside a private Holistic Massage and Therapeutic Yoga practice.

For the last 20 years I have provided over 30,000 hours of hands on therapy for people dealing with stress, tension, and pain of all kinds. I have had the great honour of working with multigenerational families from children to grandparents.
